Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, better called Ari Lennox, is an American musician and singer born in Washington, D.C., who was the first female to join J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. She released her first EP with the label on October 21 2016 titled Pho where she started to gain fame. Shea Butter Baby her debut album was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music on the internet in 2012 when she released her debut mixtape Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography in 2013. The year 2014 saw Ari Lennox release her single Bound along with her self-released mixtape Five Finger Discount. In 2015, she appeared on Omen's Elephant Eyes album on Sweat it out on 21st July. J. Cole had her send her songs for the Dreamville Team in the following year, as he wanted Rihanna to collaborate alongside her on some of the songs. She officially was signed by Dreamville Records on 8 December. Backseat, a track she performed with Cozz in The Revenge of the Dreamers II collaboration album. In October 21st, 2016 her debut EP was released titled Pho. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change track and also opened the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. Also, she was featured on the tracks Nothing but the Best by EarthGang as well as Icarus together with Bas and her labelmates. Ari Lennox, on the 16th July, 2018 was the first artist to release her single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. A music video for it was also released on September 5th. The second single she released was Grampa on November 9. She then released on November 13 two new singles, titled No One and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a track she sang with Cole on Creed II's soundtrack on 16 November. The track was released as a stand-alone single in February 2019, to coincide with her debut album. In February 2019, the music video for the track was launched. It has had over three million YouTube views in just a single week. In December of 2018, she was performing as a support act on The From East Atlanta With Love Tour with 6LACK.
